A dedicated edger uses a spinning steel blade to cut a vertical line along driveways, sidewalks and beds. All five below use an 8-inch steel blade and a guide wheel; they differ in power, depth adjustment, weight and which battery platform they run on.

Every specification on this page comes from the manufacturer’s own product page, checked on 26 October 2026. We have not used these products ourselves, so the picks are based on published specifications only.

Compare with other methods in power lawn edgers, string trimmers for edging and manual lawn edgers.

How we chose these

  • Blade size and depth adjustment published.
  • Motor type, speed and weight stated.
  • Battery platform and warranty given, so you know what else the battery will run.

Greenworks notes that its edgers cut only vertically, and that the front wheel adjusts the depth for lawn edging or trenching.

EGO lists a cutting depth of up to 3 inches, a cast aluminum debris guard and a 5 by 1.5 inch guide wheel, with up to 60 minutes of runtime on a 5.0Ah battery and 100 minutes on a 7.5Ah.

  • EGO says the 2.5Ah battery is not recommended for this attachment.
  • Total length 36 in; carbon fiber shaft.
